Here's one without an OS. You can throw in another GTX 970 at anytime when you'd like to upgrade. The only thing you will need to buy when doing SLI is the bridge and the other graphics card.

And for the cooler, you don't need it unless you're going to overclock. Overclocking nowadays is just a fun thing to brag about, and all. Well, unless your processor is really bad, overclocking will help it a lot.

Keep in mind you can't overclock or SLI in this build.

i do plan to overclock in the future once i have enough money for good cpu cooler and plan to have a system i can upgrade without changing very much. i.e.sli in future, get a socket that can get a better cpu. i am also going to show off this build so i was choosing to keep the red and black theme with a windowed case
i dont mean to be rude but i am just sticking to my preferences. i was going to go with the 8350 over the 4590 because of the great overclockability and more cores but i am still open for intel as they have better core performance and run cooler

Performance.

Intel will always be better. Maybe not with the price, but variety of processors and power.

Intel isn't ALWAYS better at everything. Lower end AMD Rocks. Also the CPU above chose can overclock harder than any intel CPU on the market.

If you're not in a hurry, I can suggest you the best possible config based on parts available for AUD $1500 that will have all you're looking for - Black/Red Theme, 27 Inch Monitor, performance, stability and great value for the money you're willing to spend. Just sit tight. Will be back.

Update:

Ok here is a solid build that gives you pretty good price to performance value:

Notes:

- Build Color Scheme: Black/Red
- I suggested the Intel over AMD as the processor is already 4 years old. The FX 8350 can be overclocked like hell but will still fall short of the Intel i5 overclock K processor. That too only possible with better cooling solutions.
- Gigabyte Motherboard and MSI Graphics Card are the way to go. Why? Because they both make stable, durable and performance oriented products in Motherboard/Graphics Card category. They have the lowest RMA for their products. See the images below:

Gigabyte with least RMA returns over the past two years

Read the full article here - Reliability report: Gigabyte top for motherboards, MSI for graphics

- Replaced the Corsair 230T with Spec-03, its priced lower, aesthetically aggressive, has a bigger side window to show case the beast internals of your rig.
- The R9 280 only require a quality 550W PSU that can deliver 25Amps or more on its +12V rail. The Antec 750W quality "Tier 2" PSU that can deliver 62Amps on its +12V rails combined, which is more than enough to power your quality build.
- BenQ GW2760HS is a 27 Inch, thin bezel, Full HD, 1080p, VA Panel, 4ms response time, flicker free (ideal for long gaming session with reduced eye fatigue), which offers the best of both worlds - Great gaming with good color reproduction.
- Watch the BenQ GW2760HS flicker free test here - BenQ GW2760HS vs. BenQ GW2760HM 1080p display SHOOTOUT

Overall a great build that gives pretty good value for the money you spend.

Cheers!

No, Intel is USUALLY better at everything. Probably the one thing they don't do well is their number of cores and price. However, intel's single core performance will always beat AMD equivalents all day.

AMD is better for builds under 600 or maybe even 700 dollars. USD.

i5 4690k is the way to go if gaming is the main concern and budget is not the issue.
i5 4690k has a bigger price tag than FX 8350 but is faster.
i5 4690k will outperform FX 8350 in games and for editing purpose both will have almost same performance.

from what you're saying in this situation yes, but for the budget I wanted a hefty overclock. Remember the 8370 holds the highest overclock in the world (only a tad different to the 8350)

Yeskays Intel build is solid and will outperform the amd if you could manage an extra $200 changing the video card to a 970 and the hd to a seagate barracuda would give you a very solid system .
Let us know some feedback on our recommendations.
