Hi
My PC
CPU Amd FX 6300 @ 3.8 ghz
MBO Asus M5A97 R2.0
Have two DDR3 1600 Mhz Hyper-X 8 gb in total
HDD 1 TB
SSD 60 Gb
PSU Corsair 750 w CX 80 plus
GPU Asus geforce gtx 550 ti TOP edition (atm)
Raidmax Case with 4 fans

So quick question.. to upgrade my gtx 550 ti or not? as first question. i can run any game still, but new games on low to medium.. hmm. i would play games on 1920x1080p on high details at least.. sometimes on very ultra is bad.. example , i tried on max crysis 3.. i had a headache

So, should i get r9 280x or 280 version or some gtx version? 280 and 280x are same price as gtx 960 aswell.. I prefer 280/x for 3 gb vram..

My final question is, which card and brand to go for, have few options

R9 280x Sapphire Dual X 3gb
sapphire 7950 dual x 3gb
Asus Radeon R9 280X DCU II TOP edition
R9 280 sapphire dual x 3gb
r9 270x sapphire and asus version with 4gb vram

or gtx 960 and gtx 750 ti 4 gb vram

prices are same for each card, diffrence is maybe 10 $ between some..
my first choice was r9 280x asus edition, since using asus now and never had any problems + is quiet and max load was 65 c

thanks

280x would be the best option here, among the cards that you're choosing from it delivers the most performance.

either Sapphire or Asus would do you well, got myself an asus strix card and cooling performance is superb, quiet as well too! idle stays at 40-45c, underload 65c

Yes ASUS makes one of the most coolest cards available in the market. ASUS has more positives like - a good reputation in the pc market and a dedicated customer support incase you encounter any issues with your purchased gpu.
Go with the ASUS R9 280X

Hi. I have a sapphire R9 280X 3Gb and overall am very pleased with it. However - If you buy this version and intend using more than 2 monitors you will need an ACTIVE adaptor from the display port to one monitor as no other cable combination will work! Your pc will see 3 monitors but can only display to 2 of them at any time! Looking at comments on "net" and TOMS, this only appears to be a problem with the sapphire version - BUT I cannot say if this is the case as I cant afford multple cards to test the theory. Good luck!

thought so 280x would be the best option and upgrade for my card

But, i saw somewhere that Sapphire has the best radeon cards, like EVGA is for gtx ..

Another question, about amd drivers, does they have smooth and stable drivers for their GPU's ? as nvidia has like every month or so driver for optimization

Sapphire does make very good Radeon cards, but other brands are not really that behind from them. It's just that Sapphire is being preferred to more often probably due to the great warranty coverage or customer service, of course quality is out of the question.

As for the drivers, you might be disappointed to know that compared to Nvidia, AMD does not update their drivers that often, but lately they do provide stable ones which is a good sign :)

Thanks for your reply

Hopefully i wont get any crash due to unstable drivers lol..

Wish there is some Nvidia graphic with similiar price as 280x with 3gb V-ram ..

i was actually wishing the same thing, 960 Ti with 3gb or 4gb with a wider bus than 128. wishful thinking i guess :)
AMD drivers are quite stable nowadays so i think you should worry less :)

Ill probably go with r9 280x asus top edition.. BUT

hows GIGABYTE GV-GTX660 GTX 660 3GB OC and ASUS STRIX-GTX 750 TI 4GB OC in compare with 280x? they are both little cheaper then 280x , but without that, in performance, are they bad vs 280x ? was looking for some gtx with more then 2gb vram, and found those two

Actually you should consider option no.3
Wait a couple of days for the new amd's gpus.
If you are willing to buy for example an R9 280x for say 200 bucks, you can spend an aditional 20-30 to buy the new R9 380x wich might be a rebrand ye but it can be only better from its ancestor.

PS. In my opinion dont buy something with less than 3gb ram

Hmm.. not sure how stable will be those new gpu's ,since they will be still new with probably issues.. also not sure if my PSU will suffer and my CPU with more bottleneck

And yes.. 2 gb vram becoming more and more useless.. and finding a gtx with more then 2gb cost way too much then radeon cards

Update1 : also not sure, that price will be same as 280x, not sure that 280x would drop price aswell hah
