What slots do i put my ram in when there are 8 slots and only 1/2 sticks

I've got this oldish computer, I want to have 4 or 5gb of ram, however there are 8 slots and I don't know which ones to use when I intend to use only one or two sticks. One is a 4gb stick, the other is 1gb. Thanks in advance.

under system model ,in system information, it says precision wokstation 490.
