New gpu slower than my previous one.

I bought the MSI Radeon R9 290 recently and when I installed it and all the drivers I was getting worse frames than my gtx 650. Why is this happening?

I am also seeing lots of stuttering. I tested it on minecraft to see if my frames changed from before but they dropped from 230 to 130. I have yet to test any other games.

Did you remove the old drivers first?

Yes, but you will want to do that anyway and then perform a re-install.
