Do I need to liquid cool a Core i7-5930K if I don't plan on overclocking it but plan on running at least 8 threads at full load for days/weeks at a time? I don't want to spend 300+ on making my own custom loop and I just don't trust prefab closed loops. I was thinking of just getting a Noctua NH-D15 with all the highflown air fans that will fit in a Corsair 780T and using that but I am not sure that it will be enough?

Thanks for the help

Solution
No CPU needs watercooling unless OC'ed, or if you want it to be silent.
If you dont mind the noise a very good CPU air cooler, will be enough...
The noctua will be enough.
If you do mind the noise get the H110i.

I would agree with that statement since most CPU's come with some sort of stock fan/heatsink, but since this one does not come with anything it made me wonder.

Buy the noctua and you sir are golden.
Of course that you should also check temperatures from time to time...
Make sure thre is decent airflow on the case and your good.
If I helped you mind selecting my answer as best solutuon. Thx!

Except the FX-9590 which pretty much requires a mid end AiO water cooler.

And I have a H100i and it is not that noisy. In fact it never gets any louder than it is idle when gaming or anything else. My GPU is noisier than it by far.

The top of the line i7 series from Intel doesn't come with a stock cooler because the people that tend to buy them, the enthusiasts, buy an after market cooler anyways so Intel stopped providing a fan with them. Hell I wish they would do the same with the i5/i7 top end CPUs in the mainstream market too as most people there buy an aftermarket cooler too.

I never said that the h110i was noisy, did I?
I said that if he wanted a silent system (if you mind the noise) buy the H110i which for me is if not the best, one of the best liquid cooling systems...

Sorry my mind read it wrong. Not sure why.
