Hi,
I need some help on making a decision for upgrading my gaming pc, at the moment I have a fx-8350, Asus M5A97 LE R2.0, 8Gb of ram, GTX 760 and a 600w PSU.
I need some help deciding whether to get a GTX 970 or an Intel i7 4790k and an Asus Z97 Pro Gamer mobo (if an different mobo is better for price to spec, please let me know), so please help me decide Im not quite sure..

The CPU/MB upgrade would be the best long range upgrade. But with the same card, your gaming won't improve much if any. So, for instant gratification, get a faster card. For future upgrading, get the CPU/board and card later.

I work on my Gamming PC upgrade on a Tic/tok Principles a bit like when they create CPU...

I would when I feel its needed upgrade the GPU... next round I would upgrade the Mobo/CPU. Anywhere in between anything else as needed.

If you feel gaming Video is your problem :Go Graphics 970 is a good choice. Still pricey and runs a lot
If you feel the overall system is slow : Go mobo / CPU, it will unleash a lot more. (consider as a General Purpose CPU if you are not HARDCORE gamer, and you seem to be in the midrange expense to move to the ryzen architecture in B350... you will need RAM too...

Price wise you are looking at a similar investment on both side. Graphic card being cheaper here.

I would first do a move to the Graphic Card. That's what in your case on a gaming PC feels like the most limitating.

Edit : Consider and review instead of the 970 vs 1050 just to be sure.
