Changed the low quality PSU to a cheaper one that is higher quality. Changed the mobo to a better one.

You do not need a SSD but it does help a lot. I would get the Samsung EVO SSDs over any other one.

If just in case in the future. Can I transfer the OS to the SSD, if i initially install it in the HDD?

If you initially install to the HDD you will want to not copy the OS over you will need or should have a completely fresh install. Keep in mind you will need to format the HDD if you do that. If you do not want to reinstall Windows and format the HDD later get the SSD now.
