Best single card to max 1080p 60 fps suggestions

I would wait until after AMD announces June 16th. Whether you are interested in an AMD card or not, it will at least shake up GPU prices a bit.

290x or GTX 970 will get the job done. You will have to turn off hairworks and extreme foliage density etc but you will get your 60fps with little visual difference.
There are some really in depth guides and suggestions to improve performance in The Witcher 3. Which settings make the biggest impact. The Witcher 3 is probably the most intensive game right now so everything else you will be fine playing on either of those cards.
This is not the only guide it's just the first I brought up when I searched google.

295X2 is a terrible option for 1080p. Requires an enormous amount of power and costs $650. Any card over $500 is going to be overkill for 1080p. A GTX 970 is basically the king of 1080p price-to-performance, and Witcher 3 is optimized for nvidia cards.
