Hello! I'm planning on upgrading soon, I had the gtx 970 in mind, I just wanted a few opinions on whether or not my PSU will run everything.

Here are my full specifications, Nothing is or will be overclocked:

CPU: i7 4790 (Non K)
Motherboard:H97M-D3H
Ram:G.SKILL Aegis 2x4GB DDR3 1600Mhz PC3-12800 kit CL-11-11-11-28
Power supply: Corsair CX500W v2 series active PFC12cm fan
Storage: one 500GB Hard drive disk and a corsair 120GB 2.5 inch SSD
Graphics card (Not that important since I'll be replacing it) : r9 270x

I also have a bunch of peripherals connected, Mainly a Blue Yeti microphone, a Razer Blackwidow 2013 + Razer deathadder 2013 And a Microsoft wireless adapter.

Yes, but half the people will tell you to replace it. You can safely ignore them for a few years.

84W + 145W + rest of system is a pretty light load for a 500W supply, even if it isn't the best power supply in the world.

Exactly. Same thing I think. It is funny because I ended up throwing in a 1200 watt gold rated PSU in my system thinking I would add at least one GPU to run mine in SLI...but never did. I barely use any of that power and even though people say that my PSU is a lower tier or whatever I have never had a single issue with it.

Actually it has the active PFC technology and works with the rest of my system and UPS to alter the electric from my wall to what is better for the PC. Definitely recommend active PFC and UPS devices.
