Hi,

Does anyone know whether there are any compatibility issues between these three items? I ask because of the height of the Vengeance Pro memory.

Hi

Thank you!

I just got so confused because I kept reading about people having ram height issues with the 212?

Also, I am confused as to what speed of memory to get... really really confused...

I bought the i5 4690k because I got the k version for the same price as the ordinary 4690. It seemed a no brainer to get the k. I assumed the k version would be a better binned chip and so run cooler etc and I read a little about XMP and thought maybe that is something I would like to play with at some point...

But what speed of memory should I get? 1600? 1866?

I understand latency is important and hence I am looking at CL9 and CL10 stuff mostly.. but I am so confused....

Your processor read 1600MHz of ram so you dont need pay more for an1866MHz ram. CL9-CL10 here almost no diference (in gaming) so go for what is cheaper for you.
I have the EVO 212 and can install all 4 dims with no problems. ;)

I am green. Lost. Where once there were trees there are now flowers.

When I last built a computer 13 years ago, a computer that is still running btw. There was no dual core, quad core, hex core, octo-core... you bought the same ram speed as the CPU FSB.

I have just bought an i5 4690k.. is 1600MHz ram all I need?.

The RAM that you need is the cheapest RAM you can find running at 1333 MHz 9 latencies, 1600 MHZ 9 latencies. There is no benefit from spending twice the price on 2133+ MHZ RAM. The performance increase is not there. Not cost effective at all. 1% performance increase for double the price - not worth it.

Just get the cheapest 1600 CL 9 kit from GeiL, Kingston, Corsair, GSkill, Mushkin ADATA and you will be fine. l

First the EVO has adjustable fan height, so any DRAM will work with it ;) Next with your CPU can run most any DRAM the sweet spot is between 1866-2400, check prices, can often find 2133/2400 at same/near price as 1600 and the additional bandwidth will improve performance (especially in multi-tasking scenarios, but even in gaming)
