I was looking into 4G cell phone signal boosters just now and I came across an amazon listing that posted just about 5 days ago.

upon discovering this product I did a search on google and it only came up with two pages. there doesn't seem to be a website owned by DealPeak. searching DealPeak alone comes up with something to do with a virus... are they somehow related? why would a company name themselves after a virus? or why would the virus designer decide to use that name? confusing.

Here's the information I've gathered:

amazon's description:

I checked their Amazon store page and came up with 39 pages of different products ranging from quadcopters, cell phone holders, usb devices, smart watches, and a number of other technology based items... most with no reviews however they have an average of a 4.7/5 feedback rating. maybe they're just a new company??

when looking for more images this website kept coming up:
http://willycomms.com/index.php/design-illustration/item/2407782011/B00X5EGR6O
why is it under the Design and Illustration category? they don't seem to have a special connection with the company.

i was able to find a youtube video but it was a slideshow of already available images and it seems the OP posts only about cell phone signal boosters... 0 subscribers though.

the next cheapest 4G cell phone signal booster is around $110 http://www.amazon.com/Wilson-Electronics-Sleek-Kit-Packaging/dp/B00I9I67Z2/ most are upwards of $300+

clearly something seems odd but i can't quite put a finger on it so i was hoping there's information i'm missing. am i being fooled? it says for the package included that it's just the antenna... so maybe all I would need is the cable? but how is it being powered?

apologies if this is not the appropriate place to inquire about this product... i'm just really curious if it's legit or not because it'd be amazing if it were real.

Most things you find called booster are simple antenna. Hard to say when it comes to antenna quality you get what you pay for many times. You have to read the fine print and know the frequencies your cell provider uses to be sure you get the correct one. The type of antenna most people use for cell is called "Log Periodic Yagi Antenna" it covers a large band of frequencies.

Part of the problem with even antenna is there are a huge number of government regulations to avoid interference. Since the cell tower can detect how much power you are transmitting and turn the power down in your device remotely a simple antenna generally is not as big a deal but that is why most say you must ask the cell provider.

Actual amplifiers if they work on the transmit side are likely not legal. Most work on the receive side but that is kinda stupid since your phone that has a much smaller radio than the cell tower must be able to talk back. Hard to say technically you are not allowed to operate a amplifier without a license but there maybe ones that the cell company approves and you then fall under their license.

The cell company actually will sell you micro cells...although they use your internet to connect so it is really only for voice.

If your goal is to use this for data be aware you really need 2 antenna to get lte to work optimally and your phone must have external antenna connections to use pretty much any antenna.
