hi I am just put together a new gaming pc with some old and new parts but having problems with it running really choppy and slow. I am running a p5qpro motherboard, intel core 2 quad q6600 processor, corsair dominator ddr2 1066mhz 2x1024mb ram, corsair 650w power supply, sapphire hd5870 graphics card and a Seagate barracuda 500gb 7500rpm hdd. I know the hard drive will hold the system back but when was running same motherboard, cpu and ram with older graphics card and hdd with xp had no problems and games ran really well even with graphics fairly high but now with a fresh install on a new hdd of windows 7 I can even get it to run turok which is an old game with out it choking and spluttering the whole time and even windows seems to run slower than it should. I know is a bit long winded but help would be appreciated. I am hoping it is just a case of it wanting more ram but want to be sure cause 2 gb should be plenty

I would suspect it is the 2GB of RAM you are using. Windows 7 has a minimum requirement of 1GB for the 32 bit version or 2GB for the 64 bit version. You are running with bare minimum RAM, which will bog down your experience once you start opening programs.

sorry reply buttons are not working properly
I thought was memory myself but it has run fine with better games and same memory before now
also doesn't has to be superfast just should run better than it is but will have to try and get some more ram first and try but is really hard to get hold of more dominator ram sticks where I am

That was because you were running Windows XP which has lower RAM requirements of 512MB, so programs run well with 2GB. Windows 7 needs at least 4GB of RAM to run smooth.
