Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my Dell Dimension 1100 to Windows 10. It is very lightly used and no problems arose with Windows 7, so performance is not an issue.

However, Windows 10 seems to require a processor that supports NX bit. The stock one (Intel Celeron D 325) does not.

I'm searching for a suitable processor that works with the chipset (Intel 865GV) and the BIOS – is there any hope?

Related to my search, I'd like to know the difference between ""PPGA478" and "PLGA478". Is a processor that works with "PLGA478" sockets compatible with Socket 478 or is it meant to be paired with LGA 775 sockets?

Thank you for your help!

Thanks for your reply!
Looking at the list, it seems that the execute disable bit was introduced with the Socket 775. I'm out of luck there.

Now, concerning the second part: I was looking for the difference between PPGA478 and PLGA478, as seen here: http://ark.intel.com/compare/27106,27114#PropertyCategory-6
