Asked to format my drive. I did can I still recover

Pc asked to format my external because it could not read it. I have been using it for one year and I have a ton of info. I actually choose the FORMAT option. Is there a way before I write anything to get the old files from some type of recovery software. Fat32 quick format.

if it was just a quick format your files are most likely fine. try the program Recuva from piriform. its free and pretty easy to use. when it asks do a deep scan.
