Hello all,

A friend of mine told me about the dangers of static when building a PC.

Are there any more tips/precautions from the community before I start my build?

Is it safe for me to use latex gloves while building my PC? My friend used rubber gloves for his build. All I have are "doctor" latex gloves.

Any help is appreciated.

Solution
Just get an anti-static wrist strap and attach it to a metal part of your case. You will be grounded and will not destroy your expensive and delicate components.

Admirable
I have never worn anti-static anything and have never fried any components due to ESD. I have even built rigs while sitting on carpet back when I was young and dumb. My precautions are simply breadboarding or assembling on a piece of cardboard and making sure I touch the metal of the case frequently. The little bit I have used straps I found them irritating and unwieldy. If you want to spring for an anti-static mat...I guess I can understand that, especially if you have a work area with a test bench and such, which I unfortunately do not.
