Hi guys,
I'm working on this really old pc right now, it can't even handle word properly. I really want a new one, can you guys help me build one?

What I want:
I like graphic design and film editing (my pc is too slow for film editing so I'm new to that :p), so I want it to run programs like photoshop cs6, cinema 4d, adobe after effects, sony vegas, properly.
I also want to play some games on it, I bought outlast on the steam summer sale, I want to be able to play these kind of games with my friends.
And it would be great if I could use 2 monitors.

So I want it to be able to run games and graphic design programs.

My bugdet is around 1000 euro's (around 1100 dollars)
I already have 2 monitors, keyboard, mouse, speakers..

Thank you for helping me out!

- Floris

The Xeon E3-1231 is identical to an i7 4770, however it doesn't have the integrated graphics. Therefore, it is perfect for video editing and only the price of an i5.

If you wanna do heavy video editing you want at least 6 cores, and at least 16 gigs of ram that said this build is pretty good. Given that you already have an O.S. to install, you could also get rid of the optical drive if you don't need it. But you can't get it for much cheaper. It is however over budge by 20-50 bucks. This is assuming you have an operating system already.

I don't think I'll be doing heavy video editing in the beginning. It's more like, if I ever going to do video editing, I want to be able to do it. Thanks for your reply btw :)

The NEX series of power supplies are poor quality, you want the G2 models. Also, Haswell-E right now is completely overpriced and totally not worth it. You miss out on the opportunity to upgrade to Broadwell when it is released, and need to splash out on expensive DDR4 memory. In my opinion, Haswell is still the best choice for gaming/video editing builds.

As the OP isn't going to be doing highly intensive video editing, the Xeon is a good choice. It does exactly the same job as an i7 4770.

If you're not going to do heavy, heavy video editing. Wait it out, skylakes gonna drop this september november ish.

At the very least wait for broadwell to drop especially when it's so close mine as well get an extra 15% performance boost or more with a new chip, since you're making a new build.

300 series amd cards are dropping in litterally a week. According to http://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-300-series-arriving-retailers-today/

At the very least i'd hold off on building until after e3. If the amd cards are as they say, the price for older cards are gonna get a sharp discount at the very least or spend a couple hundred on the new hbm stacked gpu's.

I'd wait, but if you need a pc right now, i'd go with the 4770k or maybe even a 4790k 4 ghz stock 4.4 turbo. 4 cores 8 hyperthreading, but once again price might be dropping soon for those chips too considering broadwell's quite literally around the corner. Then again if you're gonna wait for that mine as well wait for skylake die shrink and new microarchitecture.
