I'm very new to computers and PC gaming and all that, i went and bought a overpriced best buy PC and then upgraded it a lot like a year ago. Now its getting sort of hard to run all these "next-gen" games so I'm looking to upgrade in the budget of 627$.

Currently I have a Gtx 760
And an AMD FX(TM)-6120 Six-core Processor 3.50 GHz
Have 9.73 usable GB of ram
and a Gigabyte 2AC8 version 1.2 motherboard
A Professional Series™ Gold AX1200 Power supply

I was looking at upgrading to a gtx 970 and an i5-4690 but I have no Idea if any of thats compatible with the things I currently have. I do however know that the graphics card will fit in my case because I got the disk drive removed a while ago so I could fit in the 760, but other then that I'm at a loss.

If you have any Ideas about alternative upgrade options do tell, I'm trying to be able to run the next gen games and at least get 75 on lower settings on my oculus dk2 in stuff like half life and liveforspeed. Thanks for the help

Solution
You will need to buy a new motherboard and most likely a new OS if you want to move to intel cpus. With an i5 4690, you should get a h97 motherboard.

Thanks guys, I'll look into getting a new motherboard, as for OS i get windows ten for free soon enough. I am pleasantly surprised on how quick I got a reply, first post of many here, thanks again.

When I mean a new OS, I meant if you got an OEM version of window 7, that licence is locked to the motherboard. You will need to get another licence if you change the motherboard. If it is a retail version, you can reuse your product key.
If you bought a Window 8 key , you can reuse that key. If it is bundled with the pc, it is most likely locked to the motherboard.
