im build a gaming pc with an i5-4690k and a gtx 970 strix but i only have a 60hz monitor. i can "overclock" the monitor but only to like 70ish hz. maybe 75. will the input lag make is virtually impossible to play with fast reaction times or can i still play comfortably? in games like bf4 or cs:go?

People who have switched to a 120hz or 144hz from 60hz say the difference is noticable, however tiny. I feel that if you have never experienced gaming on 120 or 144hz then you won't have any problems. Swapping from 60 to 120 or 144hz is not such a huge difference that it is suddenly going to make you play better and dominate the players with a 60hz monitor.

Okay yeah thats not the point though. i dont care if i play at 45 fps or 50000 fps. i dont 100% care about smoothness of a game. i care about the screen tearing. i didn't really even mention going to a 144hz monitor. I just wanted to know if v-sync will make first person shooters unplayable because of the input lag.

I apologize, I did not intend for my last post to seem like I was trying to tell you to go out and get a 120 or 144hz monitor. I was simply stating an opinion based upon what other people have said about their experience upgrading from 60hz to 120 or 144hz, simply as a reference to help you realize that overclocking your monitor to 70hz is probably not going to do anything for you.

V-sync may help with the screen tearing, but it can cause input lag. Have you tried turning it on to see if it helps your screen tearing and if the input lag is unbearable?
