Need desperate help buying a new GPU

So i've been searching around for a new GPU and i already found some that go from 125 euro to 215 euro. Here are my options:

  • Gigabyte Radeon r7 260x Windforce 2x 125 euros
    Gigabyte Radeon r9 270 Windforce 2x 166 euros
Gigabyte Geforce gtx 750ti Windforce 2x 151 euros
Gigabyte Geforce gtx 960 Windforce 2x 215 euros
(a bit of a windforce fan)

My system has an i3 3220 CPU now, i have a 550W PSU and my monitor is a 17" one (small i know). Does the gtx 960 really worth the money and have more future prospect? Should i go with the 750 ti for which i've seen some very good reviews? Is the r9 270 possibly the middle option between those two? Should i go for the lower end r7 260x and possibly upgrade in the near future?
Please lend me your wisdom!

The 270/750 Ti are pretty close, IRRC, but the 960 is better than the R9 270.

Here is a chart for some comparisons:

Chart closer to 260x/270 (although 270x is only tested, not the 270):

It is up to you, but I would get the best GPU that you can afford, because you could move it over to a newer build in the future and take advantage of any GPU horsepower that you might not have taken advantage of now.

Oh right! My resolution is 1280x1024. I mostly want it for gaming. I want to play old as well as new titles with decent framerate. I don't really want to upgrade the GPU every now and then that's why i am considering the gtx 960 as a long term choice.

The GTX 960 is plenty for your resolution and should serve you well in the future, when/if you upgrade to at least a 1080p monitor.

AMD is about to release the Fuji based chips which feature HBM technology. That technology is supposed to have a fairly huge impact on performance.
HBM = High Bandwidth Memory
Typically running over 8x faster memory because it's located on the GPU instead of on separate chips.

I'd save a bit and upgrade in the near future after those Fuji GPU's have been released and prices have come down a bit.

I get your point but i kind of feel a bit bad spending 200 euros on a gpu, although i like gaming. I am not a hardcore gamer whatsoever, i just play games that i like.

So you suggest waiting for the older gpus to drop in price terms and buy those? Or buy a Fiji GPU?
