AMD FX 6100 bottleneck. Should I upgrade or switch to Intel?

Hello, Everyone.

I recently purchased a 2gb gtx 750 and my little AMD FX 6100 is bottlenecking it between 30 and 50% while playing Tera. I was wondering if an AMD fx 8350 would be worth upgrading to. I have been heavily debating on purchasing an i5 cpu (most likely the i5 4690k). If you were in my situation, what would you do? Will the Fx 8350 be sufficient?

Solution
If your motherboard supports a fx 8350 and a healthy overclock (at least a good 970 board, better a 990fx board) then get the fx. It will do okay. If it however doesn't, an I5 4460 on a cheap b85/h81/h97 board will be no more expensive and perform better.

Do yourself a favour and go with intel 4690k + z97 mobo. Sure fx8350 will be an improvement over what you have, but still has terrible IPC and efficiency. Z97 mobo arent that expensive...

Oh my god, the advice from these guys are killing me.

Your 750 is doing just fine with an FX 6100. You just need to overclock the cpu (yes, it really needs the best OC you can get out of it) and check for core parking in every game since most games will just ignore the last 2 threads, which is what causes bottlenecking.

After you learn to unpark the cores everytime you game, you'll see that an overclocked FX 6100 is as fast the latest i7 for the GTX 750.

I have opted for this option. I have a decent 970 board and i'll just buy a good aftermarket cooler and OC the hell out of it. Thanks. :D
