You can, depending on how fast you expect the task to complete. Some rendering programs use GPUs to speed up the process.

More cpu cores threads will help you render faster.. Think of it like building a house will you prefer one person to do it or 8.

Cores as a singular measure for throughput is not valid. Architecture, speed of execution and cache, RAM, bandwidth all factor into the evaluation.

Yes there is more things to consider but its not like a dual core g3258 will render a video faster than a 8 core fx 8350 even with its old architecture.
