Audio Driver Missing! No Sound! Please help!

Hi, I'm having a issue with the audio on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit VAIO laptop. The sound icon says that no audio output device is installed. I go to programs and features and my Realtek high definition audio driver is installed but it's not showing up in the device manager.

have you tried de installing your driver and installing a clean one?

I've had this issue in the past but the driver normally remains in device manager. There if I uninstall it from device manager, the clean driver will have sound. However when I tried uninstalling from programs and features and reinstalling it doesn't work.

Have you scanned for malware and virusses? Any other problems? They can be related. If none of this is the case have you tried a windows install disc repair? Also how did you resolve this problem before?

Can't be a virus, I factory reset my computer and the issue still remained. As I mentioned this issue kind of goes away on its own for no reason, but I'd like a permanant fix!
