Hi,

Today I bought my new LG 29UM55-P screen and right away I saw pink pixels moving on white screen (green on black). Now this is the strange part... It does NOT show it on every program... Like now Chrome is open while I am typing this and I am not seeing any pixels. But when I open Office word I see pink pixels at top of the page.

Also I am using my TV and monitor to duplicate or extend... The problems isn't on my TV only on my monitor. Using the MSI GTX970 4G

Just an little update on what happened/happens.... I somehow fixed the problem by putting my HDMI in the DVI with an adapter.... After 2 min the problem somehow got back but this time on the DVI slot.... What does this mean? The videocard isn't placed right? or there is some dust between the PCI-e connectors between the card and PCI-e input... I just wanna know in case this happens again. OR maybe my HDMIcable is to long? ( which is strange because I was never having this problem with my LG D2343p) But I do have a HDMI extender of 3 meter and using a HDMI cable of an other two meter going in my monitor.

Solution

I would have thought so too but i have experienced this with a long HDMI cable and got red dots only on some programs.
I think that it depends how hard the graphic card is working or on the colour mix of the display as they did not appear on light coloured areas.

i could have agree with you there except he/she said "It does NOT show it on every program" if it was a HDMI cable it should show up in all the programs he/she is using.

well the only way to find out for sure if the op confirms what you are saying is right or wrong...maybe we should wait if he fixed the problem already...

Well just to reply on both of you... I did run some anti-virus programs but that did not work for me. So I ordered a new HDMI cable hoping that will fix the problem. I will know Tuesday if a new HDMI cable will fix it... It is strange because today (while I was working in word) the problem seems to be there again... showing red/pink dots.

You guys think it could be because of my GPU is getting HOT? and before I forget... I do not have this problem with my TV ( which has a hdmi cable of 2 meter ). It is only with my Monitor cable which has a 2 meter normal HDMI and 3 meter extender. Sorry for the late reply for some reason I did not get my e-mails

I might try it with a smaller HDMI cable first if it doesn't show any pink/red dots I know for sure it is the extender and hdmi cable. Maybe you guys know why does this appear on my new screen only? And not with my older screen.

Update: very strange.... I was having the problems before I plugged in a new 2 meter HDMI cable. After testing without extender it did not show any dots... So I thought well it must be the HDMI cable than... After plugging in the old cable ( extender + 2 meter hdmi) I did not see any dots.... how come!!!!! Before testing with just a HDMI cable I am seeing dots and after no more.... I might also clean up my computer because it is just strange that I am seeing dots one moment and it is gone the other moment

On my TV I am using 1920x1080p and my monitor has a resolution of 2560x1080p but I am extending the screens. not duplicating and you mean the version of the HDMI? it is always 1.4 with me... because my outputs aren't 2.0
