Hi. I'm trying to get rid of windows 8 on my hard drive so I can reinstall it on my SSD. Since windows came pre installed, the only discs I have are the "system recovery" ones from HP...Which are supposed to work just the same as a windows disc itself. I cannot get it to let me delete windows 8 entirely at all with these discs. Please help!

Solution
I wouldn't recommend this, I suggest calling microsoft first being resorting to this option (they can deactivate your windows version on the hdd before you can activate it on that ssd).

Boot to the windows installation disc with your hard drive being connected. Go through the setup, and choose custom installation.
Select the partition/volume and click on "delete volume" and/or format volume

This should remove it
