I have my PC and imac hooked up to a second monitor through a kvm switch in my home office. my second monitor is used as a second monitor on my iMac and as the sole screen for my PC. Up until today I have been using 2 keyboards and mice. Magic Mouse and Mac keyboard for the iMac and a membrane Logitech and a Logitech Mx 518. I replaced these with the Razer Blackwidow Chroma and Razer Epic Chroma. I want to use these as my only mouse and keyboard. But the keyboard is not recognized by razors softwear on wither machine when plugged into the keyboard port on the kvm switch. I can still type on the keyboard but I can not use the macro keys. The mouse works fine in the mouse port. It is picked up by Razer synapse just fine. If I switch ports, keyboard into mouse, mouse into keyboard the keyboard is picked up but the mouse is not. Also receive terrible mouse input lag. The KVM switch I'm using is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817399063. What I want is to use these and have them work, anyone have any ideas?

My one thought would be just put a hub on the mouse port and connect both through that but I'm afraid it could cause problems with data transfer causing input lag. Am I right in this assumption?

Solution
An USB hub along is totally different from the USB hub built-in onto a KVM switch. So, your ideal to put an USB hub to share the keyboard or mouse will not work. The issue you experienced was the compatibility issue between your IOGear KVM switch and those gaming keyboard and mouse which has special control software and higher USB speed required.
You simply need to find a KVM switch which tested and proofed that works with Razor Blackwidow..etc.
So far, we found only one KVM switch (but it is a dual-head for sharing multi-monitor) can work with Razor Blackwidow gaming keyboard and mouse. It is ConnectPRO UDD-12A+.

I forgot to add for the UDD-12A+ suggestion. You must contact the maker directly, currently only special version of it supports the Razor Blackwidow. It may required special order of it.

An alternative to expensive KVMs...

Use your cheap KVM for switching only your monitors (or use the multi-input options on the better monitors). You can leave an old wireless keyboard and mouse on the KVM without conflict.
For the keyboard (and mouse), I have bought a cheap Amazon USB3 powered USB hub and connected it to a standard USB switch.
The Razor Synapse software posts your profiles to the cloud, so you have them on both computers.

Less than $50 to share the $150+ Razor Blackwidow Chroma.
