Hi people. Recently my old HDD kind of died (had to switch to another one since it had bad sectors and it was giving me errors, freezing, etc). The situation is that I had to buy a new HDD (which I knew was used, stuff in my country is expensive as hell, so it wasnt an option to get a new one).

So I went from my old 400Gb Seagate Barracuda to a 640gb Seagate Barracuda.

So far in the last two days I have been with it, nothing bad happend. I formated it twice, quick and long formats. I even used a quick chkdsk to see its status. It didnt report bad sectors or anything at all.

To make sure of my investment, I downloaded and ran CrystalDiskInfo. It gave me the next results:

My wonder is, is something bad with it? Is it gonna die anytime soon, or maybe in a couple months? Just wanna be sure about it. I cant give it back (no warranty at all). I just want to have an idea of what I have in use.

Note: Im using it as a slave HDD. Im currently using a Maxtor 80Gb for my OS. Everything else, like data, games, etc., is on the new (used) 640GB Seagate which I bought.

The overall rating of your disk is at caution. You can still use the hard drive, but you are putting yourself at risk of important data loss.

If I were you, I would backup all the data and replace that hard drive immediately

For real? I mean, I just bought it because my last HDD had a few hundred bad sectors on it. Is there any way to know if its a false positive? I mean, I just formated it twice, installed OS, ran chkdsk and everything was fine. Even now its working ok :/

I was just checking. Because of that theres the yellow message indicating "caution", but in my other HDD, there are the same values under reallocated sectors count and theres no caution message at all

Thanks for the replies. Too bad I spent all my money to get this HDD just so it has problems like the one that was before. At least I dont experience any problem for now and, hopefully, not for a while. Thanks
