PSU: Evga 750W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438025

Intel Build ($700)
CPU: i5-4690k @ 3.5 Ghz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117372
Motherboard: Asus Z-97-A http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132510
Memory: 8 GB G.Skill @1600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231416

AMD Build ($600)
CPU: FX-8350 8-core @ 4.0 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514
Memory: G.Skill Ares @1866 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231550

I am finding benchmarks showing the AMD build would be better, but im also finding ones saying the intel build would be better. I want some solid evidence or a solid build for 700 or less, graphics card not included (Plan on buying a better graphics card later in 300 range.)

Solution
I would go with the Intel build. AMD are cheaper than Intel but in my opinion not as good, they are slower and don't have good performance. Intel are a great company that is used by most professionals and is very reliable.

The Intel i5-4690k (the same CPU as I have) is brilliant for gaming, I have had no problems. It's very fast, reliable and can be overclocked well. Also the Asus Z97 is a great mobo (I have the Asus Z97 Pro Gamer) it's very reliable, comes with a bunch of cool overclocking/monitoring tools and I would highly recommend it. The memory is fine 8GB is enough for gaming, but maybe think about upgrading it to 16GB in the future. Personally I would have bought Corsair Vengeance 8GB of RAM because Corsair make brilliant RAM...

When you get the money I would save up for one GTX 970 as your GPU, that will give you great fps at 1080p in games.

I have an hd 6870 2 gb, but plan on upgrading to best card for around 330, whether I decide that's a nvidia or radeon. Thinking r9.
