Hey guys. I'm Filip.

I've got some serious problems with my laptop these days.
HP ProBook 4540s.
Intel i5 2450M @ 2.50GHz
Intel HD 3000
AMD Radeon 7650M
6GB RAM

Here's what happened. I've been editing some picture in photoshop, and immediately the laptop started lagging, so I cannot even move my mouse. After about 10 seconds, it restarted itself and I've got an error VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (atikmpag.sys). This never happened to me before, and I've got this laptop for almost 3 years. Anyway, I'm using Windows 8.1.

I searched about this problem. I removed my driver, downloaded it again from hp official page for drivers for my laptop model. But, it happened again and again. Also, I've installed AMD driver from their official page, and it still happens. Now, I formatted my laptop. Before I installed the driver for AMD graphic card, I didn't got any problem, but after installing, I've got a lot of problems. I can't even enter my system to remove the driver, and can't make a restore, too. Even, after the uninstalling (before the format), I was still getting that message. My computer works for about 4-5 minutes and freezes immediately. Or sometimes, It happens when I play music, the music still plays, and I got blank screen? What do you think is my problem? Is my graphic card not working anymore?

I've somehow now removed the driver. But, is this the solution? I need the graphic card to be working. Can it work without the driver?

Well, my computer now is working fast as hell. Everything seems fine without the driver (lol). I'll try photoshop, restart the laptop and will keep you informed.
Thank you!

Update.
I started photoshop, and suddenly i got black screen with nothing on it. The computer was working and I got black screen. I restarted it, and then I got again my problem video_tdr_failure (atikmpag.sys), even I removed my driver.
What could be the problem.. ?

Okay it sounds like a dodgy graphics card. The laptop switches to the graphics card (and crashes) when using applications like Photoshop, but runs fine on the integrated graphics.

I would suggest trying to disable to graphics card in the BIOS, or in a worst case scenario, make a full backup and send your laptop to HP and see if they'll replace it.

I've been reading on internet that a graphic card cannot be replaced. But, my Intel HD 3000 is integrated to my motherboard, and the AMD Radeon 7650M I think that is replaceable. But I need to be sure?

The graphics card is also integrated into the motherboard, but in a separate place. The entire motherboard would have to be replaced.
