Disabling Cores For Overclock - 8320e

So I just bought an AMD FX 8320e that's running a turbo of 3.5 Ghz. I'm going to buy a new cooler soon for overclocking and I read some things on the internet that said disabling some cores and OC higher gets better results than more cores. I'm guessing this is true for most games because of no 8-core optimization, but will disabling 1-3 cores make my game experience better? Thanks!

With my AMD rig, there was an option in the BIOS to use 1 compute unit per core, so I would have 3 FPU's and 3 ALU's per module and I managed to overclock my FX 6300 to 5.2GHz with a Seidon 120v and a 970 chipset board. The performance was a LOT better in Arma 3.
