Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 1866mhz vs 2400mhz (GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 WIFI-BK)

Hi All,

I am new to computer builds and needed some advice, sorry if the answer is obvious.

I have GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 WIFI-BK, i7 4790k, Corsair H100iGTX, but just deciding on the ram.

First of all is this ram compatible?
'Vengeance® Pro Series — 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 DRAM 2400MHz C11 Memory Kit (CMY16GX3M2A2400C11R)'

Also, I can get the following two for virtually the same price, 2400Mhz is slightly cheaper but didn't want to get a higher speed ram if it may cause some instability.

Vengeance® Pro Series — 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 DRAM 2400MHz C11 Memory Kit (CMY16GX3M2A2400C11R)

Vengeance® Pro Series — 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 DRAM 1866MHz C9 Memory Kit (CMY16GX3M2A1866C9R)

Would really appreciate any advice.

The 2400 sticks will be fine, it may require a slight OC of the CPU to run at 2400 (very slight maybe 4.2 at most). Think you'll be happier with the 2400 for the extra bandwidth ;)

Thank you, what if I want to underclock the ram to 1866mhz or 1600mhz with cl9. Is this possible?
  3. Yes, and can tighten the timing to get near same performance, if any problems give me a holler (or a PM ;) )

    Thank you so much!!

In this link http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/vengeance-pro-series-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr3-dram-1866mhz-c9-memory-kit-cmy16gx3m2a1866c9r under the technical specs is says the timings for their 1866mhz is 9-10-9-27 with a voltage of 1.5v.

Is this the settings I need to use?
  5. That would be a good starter, then could try 9-9-9-25/6 and maybe tighter
