I don't know it this I the right place to write this, but here I go

So I have an HP H8 1414 PC. I always wanted to upgrade it but, never had the money to upgrade it. Now I find out by lurking through the forums. I can't upgrade my GPU. I can but I'll be bottlenecking my CPU. so my question is can I use certain parts in the 1414 for my build? Like, the ram, the HD, Optical drive.

Specs
MB: M3970AM-HP (Angelica2)
CPU: AMD FX 6120 3.5 GHz
10GB DDR3 of ram
1TB HD
AMD Radeon HD 7450

My idea was to have the GTX 960 or 980 for the GPU to be ready for the current gen games.
But that's all I have because I don't if I want to go with Intel or AMD.

What I want my build for.

Gaming in high/ultra settings
Video Editing
Minor game Streaming in 720p or 1080p
Future dual monitor setup

Any advice would me appreciated, thanks.

Here's what i could put together on pcpartpick

you could but its not like hp give any top line parts in it to start with.. just the cheapest they can get it working out the door and sold to you [opinion]

all you can do is what you feel is best ..

the case don't look 1/2 bad ? but it only supports m-atx boards ?? the hard drive with a fresh copy of windows - optical drive - maybe the wireless card --Multimedia card reader ?? memory should b ok if whats speced in it from here

Quick question though. when I do a fresh install of the OS would HP's version of their OS would still be on HDD right? do I just delete the partition during the fresh install of the my win 8.1? or will it just over right it?

to be honest if the hp got 8 on it now its easyer to transfer the os compaired to what it was with 7 and below ? now if you got the full os disk from hp and the key you may reload it fresh or you may not due to it being a hp licensed copy.. ???

but if you just go with a new copy then when you go to install it during the install prosess it askes if you want to format the drive and that will wipe the drive clean for the install it for the most part automatic and windows installer takes care of all that

you know when I try to look all this up for 8 or 8.1 all I see is about the download thids and download that burn iso or pendrive makes me wonder now if it really a full disk copy ??

what a joke it must be dued I guess I'm on 7 till the day I die loking at all that silly stuff for 8 .. sorry
