What happened to the gtx 780/ti

Well a rather simple question as the title describes,i was buying a new pc a few months back and the 780 or 780ti was a gpu usually regarded as one of the most powerful ones in the meantime i saw that the 900 series from nvidia has been released and a few days back when i was looking at the items available at my local pc store it was nowhere to be found.

Nvidia is working on the next series of video cards already. They are slowly phasing out the older cards.

There are some 700 series cards out there still, but they all seem to have a hefty premium attached to them.

The 780 became pointless. The 970 is a bit faster, runs cooler, is more power efficient, has more vram and was same price or slightly cheaper.

I have a 780, it was great in its day but I wouldn't choose it today

780 is replaced with 980. 780ti is replaced with 980ti.

oh,that sounds reasonable,because i was mind blown when i saw that a gpu so highly regarded just vanished in such a short period of time

They are still good. I have 2 780ti's in sli. They habe been replaced by lower power consumption, newer architecture and more vram 900 series cards thats all. The tech world zooms on..

More less the 780 where rebranded into the 900 cards with a few tweaks and mem same thing AMD does.
