Is the Corsair CX Series (CX500M) PSU still reliable?

Hello everyone,

I am considering upgrading my graphics card again and getting a EVGA GeForce GTX 960 Superclocked 2GB to replace my old Radeon HD 7750 card. I also plan to upgrade from 4 to 8 GB of RAM and buy a new PSU because I've read various opinions that my TT TR2 430w ATX PSU is sub-standard and not a reliable model for a more powerful card.

The PSU I was considering buying was this one: http://www.amazon.ca/Corsair-Modular-Bronze-ATX12V-EPS12V/dp/B00ALK3HF4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426515245&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+CX+500m

My question is, would this be a good, reliable PSU for the GTX 960 I'm looking at buying? My computer is an Intel i3 540 model with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium and I don't plan to overclock the card any more than it already is out of the box. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as always.

The CX series are a competent range of psu's .
I wouldnt use one in a build where the psu is loaded heavily all the time ,but they work and are well priced .

Your build would run very well using the CX500 . Its going to draw around 200 watts fully loaded so the CX will be perfectly fine

The CX is priced in same range as XFX and Seasonic 500W PSUs. That is rediculiously bad price for the CX since both the XFX and Seasonic blow it out of the water. A 500W CX is worth no more than 50 bucks. 80 is ridiculous.

Okay, thanks everyone for their help. I think I'm going to go with the Seasonic one because it's $10 cheaper on Amazon than the CX and it seems to be much more highly regarded.
