Hello this is my first post on here so spare me the hate. Im looking to upgrade my gaming pc. Right now my focus is on ram and i know i want to go with corsair and my only questions are compatibility. Right now my specs are:
cpu: Intel 4790k with an h100i
ram: g.skill 8gb (two years old)
mobo: Asus sabertooth mark 2 z97
gpu: evga gtx 970 ftw
psu: evga 750 watt g2
storage: 256gb kingston drive and a 1tb seagate
case: Corsair vengeance c70

Ive been looking at a few options like:
opt. 1: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233600&ignorebbr=1
opt. 2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233287&ignorebbr=1
The problem im contemplating is if my motherboard will support the vengeance pro ram seeing as it runs at 2400mhz and my mobo only supports 1866. But will i be able to set the clock speed down to 1866 at all? Could any problems or anything bad occur? I saw on this video the guy put it on the same motherboard so im guessing its ok but i really wanted to double check. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x8-UIUYq_o

The reason i want the vengeance pro is because the color scheme will match my existing setup and overall its just great quality ram. If i cant use it then ill just go with my second option. Also which one do you think is better that i should use they both will look great in my case.

Also side note i am planning on changing all my cables for my psu, new fans, possibly a new hard, and maybe even a new cpu cooler so if you have any suggestions that u recommend that would be great.

Sorry if this is a lot of details and such i just want to be thorough.

Thanks a lot!

Solution
I'd go the 2400, I think the ST has 2133 XMP support and should be able to manually set up for 2400 (may take a bit of a CPU OC)...and yes if needbe can run them at 1866/9
