What's the best way to connect by PC to the Internet?

Soon going to be building my PC and I'm going for the black and white theme, recently I've been thinking loads about how to connect it to the Internet.

I've always used PCI wireless cards but the thing with them is they're usually green or there is usually green on it because there is nothing covering it, is there any way to paint this to my desired colour without damaging it as it would literally drive me mad as I want a windowed case and I don't want anything out the colour scheme,

Another way I've thought is save £50 by not buying a wireless card and spend that £50 on a motherboard with wifi without going over £150 ish but again I can't find one matching the colours I want (black or white)

USB I don't want to use as I've heard it's not as good as them two options, also wired connection is a bit difficult as the hub is downstairs and I am upstairs, I've also seen the circuit method but I literally have no plugs spare for that near the Hub

What can people suggest as I really don't know what to do here, hopefully my questions can be answered too

Solution
Painting a populated PCB is 99% likely to give you problems. Even if the paint were non-conductive its dielectric properties could easily cause changes to the performance of some of the microcomponents, most likely for the worse. Plus the chances of you managing to do a nice even job that doesn't look shoddy are slim to zero.

Painting heatsinks is another matter. Wifi reception is generally stronger when you have some form of external aerial.

If you want Ethernet cable you buy a roll of suitable length and add network sockets to your hall (beside your modem) and your bedroom (beside the computer) for a much neater job. Wired is always better than wired in terms of performance.

Your other option is one of these USB adapters. I have one, it's not the prettiest thing but it connects via USB cable rather than being a dongle so you can place it somewhere inoffensive away from the computer, and it has far more gain than a typical USB dongle. With our 30 (50? I forget) Mbps WiFi it manages 20-25 Mbps most of the time in a room about as far from the router as you can get, where a lot of other devices struggle to maintain connection.

The fastest connection is the wired Ethernet cable as the wireless router has to convert the signal and broadcast it, then the receiver receives the signal and converts it to PC use, all that conversion time is not necessary with a wired connection.

Light indicator wise just put a piece of electrical tape over it if you do not want to see it, the light is just an activity indicator nothing else.

I am trying to work out a way to try trail an Ethernet cable from my hall to my bedroom, It would require a few holes though, Is it possible to buy cable and the heads that plugs into the PC and the hub so I can put the cable through the holes then wire it at the other end?

Also is it a definite nono to painting a Network card then?

That's possible with the right tools and knowledge. There are probably guides to google for.

If (the) paint is conductive would that imo be not a good idea.
What's wrong with that black Gigabyte option? Or the powerline adapters for that matter ...

It would maybe easier to paint a motherboards chipset cooler and vrm cooling like with this one's,

again google this,a lot to be found like tips about which paint to use and such.

The usb card linked earlier is a good option too.

What tools would you need to do this? Also I have learned how to wire Ethernet cables before, It would just be the colour order I'd need to look up on,

There is nothing wrong with them, In fact I quite like them but Now I have had a long hard think about it, and watching comparison videos, I'm pushing more and more towards an Ethernet cable, Going to try my best with that, But if not I like the idea about painting a motherboard, However would the wi-fi be stronger or weaker when its built into the motherboard than a PCI wireless card?

I thought that it would cause problems but I wasn't sure on it,

I am going to try my best to get a wired connection in my PC, I will have to try my best to hide the Ethernet cable as it goes up the stairs and put a hole through into my room somewhere where it can come in, But if not I will try the options that was said above
