Hi all,

Many years ago I purchased a set of Crucial Ballistix Tracer Red 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800 Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT25664AR804) memory for my Asus P5Q-EM motherboard, and they haven't let me down once. Unfortunately at the time, I didn't think ahead & didn't buy two sets of this memory. Now, many years later I've seen an advert for some memory being offered and I wanted to see if it was compatible with mine.
The memory I have looks like this:

http://www.ocinside.de/review/crucial_ballistix_4gb_pc2_6400/

And the memory I've found is quoted as being "Crucial Ballistix Red Tracer 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2-800 PC2-6400 4-4-4-12 BL25664AR80A" and looks like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121678044778?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

The differences I can see are that the BL code & the voltage is different to mine. The voltage is .2 less than mine.

So therefore, are these compatible with my memory and would they be safe to install even though the codes & voltage are slightly different ?

Hope someone can help...

Many Thanks,

Ed

With the codes being different, there is a definite chance that the additional memory will not be compatible with your existing memory. This can result in the new memory not being recognized, or the whole system not booting.

You should plan to replace all the RAM sticks if you want to upgrade the RAM.
