In search of an HDD and IDE storage enclosure that will allow me to plug straight into the MOBO with a SATA connection.

I am wanting to create an all around backup drive, with an enclosure that can provide SATA connections so I can plug straight into a motherboard.

I am also curious such a thing exists also for older IDE drives.

If there also exists an enclosure that can do SATA and USB, that would be just awesome :D

There are enclosures with eSATA and USB. eSATA is the better solution because that way you don't open your case. I wouldn't mess with IDE drives any more. They are old, slow and small. Shoot (or drill) a hole through the platters to be sure nobody reads data from them and move on.

I figured as much for IDE drives. Truth be told, I'm researching for a computer repair shop and was interested in having portables with the fastest method of transfer available.

Do you know any particular eSATA enclosures?
