The plastic around the display broke on an old netbook - wiring exposed. Problem?

Should I be worried about exposed wiring. I have a small task I want this old netbook to do, but not sure if it's better if I just ditch the thing. Is it worth the potential trouble of exposed wiring around the display hinge?

Relatively low voltage shouldn't give u a shock to induce cardiac arrest if that's what ur worrying. Maybe out of embarrassment when a small spark fly during ur presentation maybe.

Is a possibility, although we haven't heard an incident for a while. So if you have to use it just for a little longer, sit it on a metal surface, away from other combustibles.

Oh one more thing, a fire, the most common kind in a laptop, would be caused by over-heated LION battery. To combat this, use PLAIN WATER, this information comes straight from my company's manual which deals with LION.
