I've had the Logitech G500 for quite a while. I really like almost everything about it. About a year and a half ago (something like that, at least) part of the fabric around part of the cord got worn and ended up causing a sort of kink in the wire which I'm fairly certain is the cause of it's issues. It just dies for a few seconds at a time every few minutes. It's not a terrible issue unless I'm playing a game, then it's basically terrible. I'd probably just replace it, but the cheapest I can find another is something like $100, and I'd really like to spend something like $50-75.
Another feature I saw on some other mice was that the standard cord is simply replaced by a 2-way USB cord, which sounds like a nice way to prevent my current issue from reoccurring. I'd like the mouse to have the adjustable weights, the DPI setting software (to customize each of the DPI setting values), and at least as many buttons. I also need the mouse wheel to have the clicky (I'm really drawing a blank as to the technical term) mouse wheel; I can't stand the smooth wheel. I'm right-handed, and like that feel of the G500. I'd rather not get a wireless mouse. I'm not sure what the difference between optical and laser mice is (assuming there is one), but I think I read that optical is better than laser and that the G500 is laser, so changing to optical might be an improvement (assuming I have my facts right). I don't really like Razer mice, but I have never used one for an extended period (neither short term or long term, just a few minutes total) and would be willing to give one a try if I get several recommendations for one that fits the bill.
I've looked at some of Logitech's newer mice, and some of them seemed like they might work and were in my price range, but a lot of the reviews said they felt cheap, among other issues.
Anyone have any recommendations and/or nicer things to say about the newer logitech mice?
Edit: This is where I read about the optical/laser thing. Be aware that the link contains some foul language.

It also claims that a few relevant mice are awful, including my G500, the G700 and G700s, the G600 and the razer imperator, which were all mice I was either looking at or have seen recommended elsewhere. The picture also highly recommends the G400/S and the razer deathadder black/2013. Can anyone speak to these specific opinions?
