Hello all, I am living in Tanzania and am interested in learning and creating "new" computers. Because of my inability to buy new equipment I have been using old parts and bunching them all up into a "new" computer for different charities or orphanages. I currently have 2 LGA 775 motherboards which I bought online when I was in the US and brought back with me. I also have two LGA 775 CPUs, both Pentium dual core E5700s. I have tried to put them together but cannot get the PC to work or even turn on, I have tried using both SATA and IDE HDDs, both INtegrated graphics and a dedicated GPU and everything else which I can think of, does anybody have any ideas why it would not work together?

PS I do not know the exact motherboards but I bought them from these 2 Amazon pages

Thanks for your help!

Agree from looking at support documents, none of the newer CPUs are supported. Simply put the boards are very old compared to the CPUs, and most OEM board are not updated to support new hardware, as they rather sell you a new computer.

Next time try and stay clear from OEM boards, unless you have checked the recommended CPU. In this case for the first mobo (from a pulled 620 dell optiplex) it looks like it supports a pentium D/ celeron. Manual doesn't even mention core2's.
