Hello everyone, I'm just going to jump into it:

Computer Specs:

Processor: AMD A10-5800K APU
Memory: 8GB (two sticks of 4GB)
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A85X Extreme4
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series
Hard drive: Western Digital 1TB Blue

I don't know how poorly this computer runs in theory, but it has lasted a long time and worked well with many games. Unfortunately with all these new games coming out, I now have to upgrade my computer to keep up. I've asked others how I should upgrade this computer, and they recommended replacing the motherboard and processor first. Would someone please recommend me hardware that could make my computer overall faster? At the moment I'm trying to play Rust, but it barely runs at 30 fps. Thanks!

APUs are rather weak when it comes to processing power. get an AM3+ board and the FX 4300 or FX 6300 or even the FX 8350 and you'll be good to go in terms of CPU. or you can get an intel i5 and a LAG 1150 board, Keep the RAM and HDD. then I would get a R7 26X or better yet an R9 270 or better.

Okay I will eventually upgrade the gpu but I think I want to get a new motherboard in first. I don't really know which is best, so is the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 a good choice? I will get the fx 6300 to go with it.

That won't make your games run any faster though.

You'll need to upgrade your GPU first, and then upgrade your motherboard and CPU.

Alright, do you think a Radeon R9 280X 3GB 384-Bit is reasonable for my computer?

For an overall PC experience to be better get an SSD, no matter how cheap, just run your OS on it. You PC will boot in seconds and everything will be super fast.
