So not that long ago i noticed something weird with windows experience index, my SSD was only showing up as 5.9..
so after digging around a bit i updated my ahci drivers and updated my motherboard bios to UEFI but after doing so i'm experiencing a lot of slowdowns in windows..

switching tabs in firefox takes a couple seconds as opposed to being instant and on youtube if i click a video to pause or play it it sometimes wont register for several seconds

sometimes pictures take up to 10 seconds to open (pictures on my SSD and the ones on my HDD so i believe this is some kind of driver issue) ive spent so much time and energy trying to fix this damn thing

Heres a picture from speccy http://puu.sh/irwQu/7489b8089c.png

i have no idea what my MUSHKIN SSD is showing up as a toshiba.. (and they show up as SCSI)

Heres a screenshot from my windows experience index http://puu.sh/irwTZ/d6152a8227.png

I really hope someone here can help me because ive tried dealing with this but it just gets more and more annoying every day especially since i consider myself quite good at troubleshooting these kinds of issues but so far nada.. if you guys need any additional info please let me know and ill try my best to provide!

ive done everything in there (things that apply, so no "no-gui" and i just moved the paging file to a new disk) and the problem is still there..

That would wipe my data.. i'm looking for solutions that would let me keep my data (there is no reason why my drive would just randomly not be okay on its current firmware which has been working until now so i dont think updating it is the fix im looking for, but if nothing else is found ill try it)

EDIT
hhhmmm ok try this for now...remove the HDD and all external drive..let windows boot with just the SSD installed. then check if you still experience the slowdowns. also check the " windows experience index" also if you can run a SSD benchmark and diagnostics to see if it really is the SSD fault.

Not all firmware updates wipe data.

I've updated my Samsung SSD twice. Since I've brought it (July last year). And the data was still there afterwards

And I've updated the fw on this seagate hdd on this about 3-4 times since I brought it, it's never wiped the data on it

It depends on what the site says (where the fw is) about updating the firmware. If it says it'll wipe the hdd/data then it will

i have ran benchmarks on the ssd and it seems fine :( it seems i might have a rootkit so i'm going to try reinstalling windows

yes, it no longer finds anything but the slowdowns are still there so i'm guessing the damage is permanent

so what would the solution be other than getting a new ssd?
