Pci 3.0 graphics card in pci-e x16 slot with i5-2500k cpu

Will the Pci-e 3.0 card MSI N750ti-2GD5TLP GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3 be used in the AsRock H67M motherboard's pci-e x16 slot with an Intel i5-2500k CPU (onboard graphics)?

I need a low profile graphics card for my system in order to be able to play Project CARS and hopefully "No Man's Sky"

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

  4. Thanks............ I would like to ask another question.

Given that my present build was designed to be a multi-media pc, would it be worth upgrading my motherboard to a newer model that has the requisite pci express 3.0 slot? Also, I have read different answers regarding the i5-2500k's ability to work with a pci express 3.0 card!

    Existing build:
Win 7 64 ult to upgrade to win 10
    SteelSeries low profile case
    AsRock H67M motherboard
    Intel i5-2500K cpu
    16 Gb Ripjaw ram
    Samsung 840 Evo 250 SSD
    WD Green 3Tb 2nd hdd
    500 Watt PS
    Samsung

  7. No, a motherboard with a 3.0 PCI-e won't improve performance. Just keep your current motherboard.
