A question about CPU temp on HWMonitor and Open Case Cooling.

I am pretty obsessed when it comes to my PC parts temp and i always have HWmonitor open to keep eye on the temp every day. I have a random mid tower case that only have 1 back fan which i know sounds pretty bad but i have had many attempts to eliminate high CPU temp which included getting a CM Hyper 212, making space and sticking and extra fan with blutak in the front panel(which only resulted in extra noise and no difference in temps, and decreasing the voltage of my CPU.

However on HWMonitor there temps for CPU(Don't really know what it's for) and temp for FX-8350 which is my actual CPU with the first one being at constant 60 while gaming and the latter being at 45-55 under load so my question here is obvious what is the first CPU temp on HWMonitor? is it just the socket? and is there any harm with that being constant 60?

My 2nd question is about letting the side of the case open during the summer since i don't really have any airflow to interrupt wouldn't that be better except for collecting more dust which i can take care of?

Im also obsessed in checking temps on a regular basis on the day.
Though mine is a 6300 and yours a 8350, well as long as the chip didnt suffer from thermal throttling, you will fare just fine. The chip can handle up to 90 degrees though. And yeah, the CPU temp on the MOBO panel in HWMonitor is the socket.

about the airflow stuff,im not sure but my setup is a Fx 6300 with hyper 212x, a strix gtx 970, and an old Thermaltake Armor 60 case, which can handle 7 fans, but i modded some parts of the case and set 9 fans instead (10 with the hyper) and i get good cooling on my setup. I dont see the decrease of voltage on my cpu though, that my PSU is a cheap ass 550W(497W IRL wtf) Cooler Master PSU.Im using Balanced airflow setup(i guess),and here is my temps from idle and after a healthy dose of GTA V on MAX settings(with no extended scaling and 2xMSAA with TXAA)

IDLE:

After GTA:

40 after GTA is great but again you said you have 9 fans + a hyper 212 on the chip i have 1 and 1 and the summer in Egypt is nasty i can assure you.

I've been playing Witcher 3 for the past couple of hours with the side of the case open and my temps have gone down to 55 socket, 45-50 CPU 70-75 GPU(80s before). Oh and btw the FX chips are not designed to run that hot according to AMD website the max temp is 65 so i am not sure about 90.

I know the summer in Egypt, terribly hot sometimes reaching 38+ (Im from Malaysia though).
CoreTemp says TjMax for AMD cores is 90 degrees but idk about that though.

You better fare off with extra case fans(i use sickleflows and its cheap here) of get a table/stand fan and blow it directly into your case.
They solved the safe temps for AMD cpus here
