Hey there, talkopel02.

Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your drive. If the HDD is detected in Disk Management - try to assign the drive a new letter and it should appear in Windows Explorer as well. Here's how to do that: How to change the drive letter assignment in Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP or 2000

Initialize it, right click it in disk management. Then format it

@bjsm this would normally be the right way to go with a new internal drive, but in this case it doesn't sound like the right decision, especially having in mind that the HDD is working properly with the other computer.

Just a quick note - one should always backup his/her data before initializing a drive, because everything would be lost afterwards.

If this is the case then the it seems like the issue lies with XP computer. Have you tried reinstalling or updating the USB drivers to see if the problem persists? I'd also suggest that you try the drive with different USB ports to see if the same thing happens.
