About an hour ago the computer was working fine. After going out, coming back and turning it on, it would not display anything on the monitor.

I opened the case up and looked at what happened. Everything is plugged in correctly. I have removed most of the dust inside. The graphics card fan spins once and then stops upon powering it up.

I believe it is an AMD (Radeon HD?) R7700.

After looking online I tried replugging the PCI-E into it and nothing changed. I also tried reseating the RAM. It worked fine an hour ago, can anyone help me out?

"most of the dust" how much is/was there in the case? Dust can be conductive and causing electrical problems in the computer, not only that but it also prevents proper cooling.

How long did you system work before the problem? (Months, Days, Hours) Did you have a power surge or anything?

The dust is cleaned out - that is not an issue. The PC has been working since march last year but a few months ago I added an extra stick of RAM which caused no problems at the time. No power surges to my knowledge.

They both share the same specs - except the new one is 8GB whereas the other is 4GB. They share a dual channel slot from what I can work out. However, I have tried booting the PC with only the 4GB stick like I had at first but nothing changed.

Ummm...did you read what I posted? To Flash your BIOS you need the computer OFF, remove the CMOS battery, wait 30 seconds to a minute, replace the CMOS battery, and reboot.

This has nothing to do with your monitor or even having the computer on.

Right - my bad. I misunderstood. I have now located the CMOS battery and replaced it after just over 30 seconds. I then rebooted it and same as before.

UPDATE: Turns out it appears to be overheating as the only decent explanation. It refused to work for a good 5 hours, but after leaving for 3 hours and coming back it worked fine.
