Amd Tri-x R9 290 graphics card not on my "Display adapters"

I just got done building my computer and my graphics card is not showing up in the device manager under "Display Adapters" i have tried using the CD and the drivers off the website but the downloader fails everytime. i have an Tri-X R9 290, an Asus Z97-E, EVga 850 E2, i5 LGA 1150. i have looked and tried many things to get it to show up. i have put in the other slot with no luck. Also if i plug the monitor int the graphics card the monitor will not work.

your PSU is what ?? are the power slots for GPU connected properly have you taken the card out and in again to check its in properly any beep's on boot from motherboard / on what your saying have you gone into the bios and turned off the on-board graphics sounds like the problem
