Hi :) So I've just built my computer today and I've all Windows updates installed and have installed the USB 3.0 driver for my motherboard.

When trying to copy anything from my external hard driver to the computer via the USB 3.0 ports, it will start for a split second and then drop to 0 bytes/s, then disconnect and reconnect again. It does this EVERY TIME. I thought at first it might be the external hard drive but it's not as it works perfect on the USB 2.0 ports. I have tried re-installing the driver and I used the driver from Asus' website and not the CD obviously. Even if I play a song from the external hard drive, it stops and plays every few seconds. It's weird, have not had this issue before so anyone with some advice or knowledge of this, please help me out! Thanks :)

I have an Asus H81I-Plus with a Thermaltake Core V1 case.

So you have made sure that the cables are properly plugged right?
If this is the case, and the issue persists, then I guess you can contact the computer case manufacturer. As the system is brand new, I believe the components should be under warranty.

Hi there alannm37,

Are there USB 3.0 ports on the back of the computer case? In case there are, you can try connecting the drive over there.
Another thing that could be causing this could be a faulty cable. So, it may be a good idea to attach the drive with a different cable.

If the issue persists, and given the fact that you have reinstalled all the USB drivers, then I guess you can contact the MOBO's manufacturer.

If you could attach the drive to another system that supports USB 3.0, you will be sure whether there is something wrong with the drive itself or with your system.

Cheers,

Hi, thanks for your reply. After being silly enough to not check for USB 3.0 ports on the motherboard itself at the back, it has solved the issue. I connected it to the back and copied just like normal at full speed all the time.

So now what I'm worried about is what the USB 3.0 Ports on the case are not working? I have made sure the cable for it is securely connected.
