Hi,

I'm planning an mITX build with an i5 4460, MSI H81I and CoolerMaster G550M. Everything will be put into a Thermaltake Core V1.

Now the important question is: Which video card?

1.) GTX 960 4GB
+ low tdp
- memory bus may be too small for 4GB

2.) R9 280X 3GB
+ overall better performance than GTX960
- high tdp
- 3GB VRAM

3.) R9 380 4GB
+ lower tdp than 280X
+ 4GB VRAM with faster memory bus than GTX 960
- relabeled R9 285 with more VRAM

So...The main question is: Is a 4GB version of the 285 going to beat a 280X and will there be a noticeable differnce while gaming compared to the GTX 960?

The 380 performs marginally ahead of the 285, as to be expected. Given such, the 280X is still the faster card out of all those listed.
Unless you are planning to pass 1080p the 3GB really isnt a limitation on the 280X.

I would recommend the 280X for its raw performance, if you can accommodate its power and heat.

If you prefer low power usage over performance, go for the GTX 960.
If you want the best GPU performance your choice is the R9 280x. I presume this is for 1080p, in which the extra 1 gb of the 380 won't make much difference, the 280x will usually still be faster.

Shit, I just realized that I put this as a question where you can olyl add solutions...Does anyone know if I can change it to a discussion? Sorry, I'm new...

Anyway, I just read that the 200 series won't fully support DirectX12, whereas the GTX 960 and the 380 do. Is that true?

Yeah, the R9 200 series won't have full support for DX12, which is mainly why I'd go with the GTX 960 or R9 380. So what card do you guys think is better? I'd like to go with one of those two :/

Out of the two, the 380 4GB wins hands down. Take a look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTpNZEW31G0
