Bought GTX 970, should I return for R9 390?

I bought an EVGA SSC GTX 970 literally about a week ago... now the r9 390s are on sale.

Can I get any non-biased opinions if I should return it and go for a 390? The whole 3.5gig fiasco hasn't creeped up on me yet... but I can only imagine as games get more intensive, that 8 gigs on the 390s is going to really come in handy. And it's for the exact same price that I paid for my 970.

I think that if it isn't a hassle to return the product, and a higher power consumption doesn't effect you, then go for it. But if you have to pay a shipping fee to return the gtx 970 or your electricity bill is high, THEN you could stick with the 970.

Do you plan on using multiple monitors or high resolutions? If you don't any you just want a gaming pc for 1920X1080 then the gtx 970 should be fine. However; the 8gb is very competitive and the 390 shouldn't be that much slower. Your choice.

Just a single, 1080 monitor - although I do mirror it to a 2nd monitor from time to time. Has there been any actual performance reviews regarding the 390? If it's similar or underperforming compared to the 970 that would put my mind at ease, but the fear that it might perform better and with more memory for the exact same price is giving me a case of paranoid remorse.

This guy's videos are usually worth checking out (390 review): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i19wqCfJXJs

I wouldn't return it for a 390 if you already have the 970. They're very comparable and at 1080p you won't need the extra vram.

Hmm, it seems pretty comparible to the 970. Performance wise it seems about the exact same, give or take a couple fps - so right now it's just the 8gig vs 4gig that's making me uneasy.

Do you think a cx 600 psu would be ok to run a 390 with an i5 4690 processor, two 4gb sticks of RAM, four 140mm fans, one 200mm fan, and a single 1tb hard drive? I ultimately went with the 970 because the 2 series were power hogs, but I heard the 3 series actually draw less than the 2 series. It's not so much my electricity bill that I'm worried about, rather than my psu being able to run everything without worrying of it dying out. If the 3 series are just as much a psu hog as the 2's then the 970 would still be the right choice for me, but if they are in fact more efficient than the 2's then I might have some thinking to do

I was thinking of buying an R9 390, would it run on my XFX TS 550W power supply?

Hold on there, the 390 is slower than a GTX 970. The 390x is only 3% faster, but would lose once the overclocking battle began. Those cards also use more than 2x as much power as the 970.
